Why holiday and city session in Black Forest
A holiday photographer in the Black Forest works with visitors who are rarely exploring a single city. Most are touring, often by car, with a morning at Triberg, an afternoon by a lake and a night in a small town. A one-hour session fits that rhythm when it stays in one compact place you would have stopped at anyway. The old town of Gengenbach with its half-timbered lanes and town gates, Schiltach where two rivers meet below steep roofs, the shore path at the Titisee and the little street channels of Freiburg’s old town all work well on foot. What does not work is combining a town and a waterfall forty minutes apart, because that hour disappears into the drive. We would rather give you three backdrops five minutes apart than two separated by a car park.
July and August are the busiest months, when the lakes and Triberg fill up by late morning. The first hours of the day or the last hour before sunset bring calmer streets and softer light. In December many towns hold Christmas markets, and Gengenbach turns the windows of its town hall into an Advent calendar, which is atmospheric but crowded. Book once your route is settled, and tell us early if the forecast makes you want to swap days.
How the session runs
We meet at a simple, fixed point: a town gate in Gengenbach, the market square in Schiltach or the lake promenade at the Titisee. The first minutes are a stroll and a conversation, and the camera comes in once you have stopped noticing it. From there we follow a short loop chosen for the hour you have, with two or three backdrops a few minutes apart, perhaps a lane, a bridge and the water. Children are welcome and set the pace. After sixty minutes you are back where you started, the car still parked, and 30 edited photographs arrive within 48 to 72 hours.
