Holiday and city session in Germany

An hour covers one neighbourhood and about thirty usable frames. What it does not cover is crossing a city. In Berlin, joining two districts costs forty of the sixty minutes you paid for, and the photographs you get are of the two stations in between. So the route is planned by light and walking time rather than from a list of landmarks — which nearly always means somewhere you would not have found, ten minutes from somewhere you would have.

It suits the gap in a trip rather than the centre of it: the hour before dinner, the morning before a train, the evening you have nothing booked. Tell us when you are free and we will tell you where that hour is worth spending, which is a different answer in June than in November and a different answer again depending on which way the streets face. Thirty edited photographs, ready in your own gallery two or three days later.

It works for more people than couples: a family on a city break, friends travelling together, or someone on their own who otherwise comes home without a single photograph of themselves. Besides eight cities, the places we cover include Heidelberg, Dresden, the Black Forest and Lake Constance, where an hour outdoors looks very different from an hour in Berlin. What to wear is simple: whatever you would walk around in that afternoon, in colours that do not fight each other, with shoes that have already survived a day of sightseeing.

Booking from abroad needs nothing more than the form: the city, your dates and when you are free. We answer by phone or email with a set price, and nothing is paid to ask. Anything that would change it, such as a longer session, is named first, and admission to a paid site would be a separate line. If severe weather cancels the hour, it is moved without charge. The photographs are yours for private use, to share with whoever you like, and they stay out of our portfolio unless you give written permission.
