Your photographer in Germany

Hiring a photographer in a country you are only visiting usually means a week of email, a quote that arrives last, and a portfolio you have no way to verify. This inverts that order. You choose the place and the kind of session, you see the price before you commit to anything, and the photographer who answers already lives and works where you will be standing.

Twelve places are covered: Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Leipzig, alongside Heidelberg, Dresden, the Black Forest and Lake Constance. Two of those are not cities at all, which is deliberate — a ceremony in a clearing above the autumn fog is a different thing from a ceremony in a town hall, and both belong in this catalogue.

What a local photographer knows that a visiting one does not is the hour. In Hamburg the sun sets at 15:50 in December and 21:55 in June, so the same booking is a midday appointment in winter and an evening one in summer. Cologne cathedral only fits a frame from the Deutz bank, and only takes front light in the afternoon. In Stuttgart the sun disappears behind the rim of the basin forty minutes before the sunset in the almanac. None of that is findable in advance and all of it decides whether a session works.

Sessions run from a forty-five-minute headshot to a full wedding day, and take in couples, families, maternity, newborns, corporate and trade-fair work, property and food. The fee is agreed in writing beforehand, covers the editing, and includes a private gallery delivered within forty-eight to seventy-two hours. Nothing is billed per extra photograph. If the weather turns, the session moves at no cost.
