How the session runs

We set up in a room of roughly four by three metres with one clear wall: a neutral backdrop, portable lighting and a fixed camera position. Each person takes about ten minutes, so a team of twenty fits into half a day. For the environmental frame we use somewhere inside your building that says something about the business — reception, a staircase, a desk by the window. Light and distance stay identical for everyone. Each person receives 15 to 20 retouched photographs with square and 4:5 crops within 48 hours.

    Three curved blocks, one of them in polished steel that reflects whatever stands in front of it. On a weekday this is office traffic; in the evening and at the weekend it is empty — and that is the difference between a portrait and a portrait with forty passers-by in it.

    Hofgarten und Schloss Jägerhof

    The oldest public park in Germany: mature trees, a pond, and a small rococo palace at the edge of it. Five minutes on foot from the Königsallee and still quiet — the default for family and maternity sessions when the brief is green.

    Two hundred and forty metres with a light sculpture that tells the time, and the curved parliament building on the water in front of it. From the bank you get both plus the Rheinknie bridge in one frame — a subject that only works after sunset.

Questions

Do you cover offices outside the city, in Neuss or Ratingen?

Yes. Neuss, Ratingen, Meerbusch, Krefeld, Duisburg and Wuppertal are all within the area we work in around Düsseldorf, and nothing about the office set-up changes. Send us the address and the number of people with your enquiry, and we will reply by email or phone with a quote and a schedule.

Can new colleagues be matched to the set later?

Yes. We record the lighting, distance, focal length and backdrop used in the original session, and later arrivals are photographed to the same settings so the team page stays consistent. It is usually most efficient to gather newcomers and book a short follow-up two or three times a year.

Our team is split between the office and home working. Does that work?

It does, as long as there is one day when most people can be in the office. Anyone who misses it can join a follow-up with identical settings. What does not work well is mixing our portraits with self-taken ones, because the difference in light shows immediately on a shared page.
