Why corporate event in Munich

A corporate event photographer in Munich works to a city calendar with distinct seasons. Spring and autumn are crowded with conferences and client events in hotels, congress centres and company headquarters; in September and early October many companies move their gathering into a festival tent or beer garden instead. These formats need different handling. A conference hall has even stage lighting, while a festival tent is loud, packed and lit by mixed artificial light that turns faces green or orange. So beforehand we discuss not just the running order but the room and its light. Five hours covers either, provided it is settled which moments absolutely cannot be missed.

Company events around the Oktoberfest need planning very early, because tent and beer-garden reservations are allocated long in advance. December Christmas parties book early as well. For spring conferences, four to six weeks’ notice is usually enough. Send us the running order at least a week ahead so stage times and group photographs can be planned.

How the session runs

We arrive before the start and photograph the empty room, branding and details before guests appear. Then come the reception, welcome and stage programme as scheduled, with networking and audience in between. Must-have moments — the board on stage, an award handover — go on a list we agree in advance. Guests who prefer not to be photographed wear a marker you hand out at the entrance. A first selection arrives the same evening, the full gallery of 250 photographs within five working days.

Where we photograph in Munich

  1. 01

    Olympiaberg

A rubble hill from the war, sixty metres above the plain, and the only point from which the city and the Alpine chain fall into one frame. On a clear October evening half of Munich is up there; on the others you have it to yourself.

    Best time:
    Sunset, on a Föhn day
    Permit:
    Free — public park
  2. 02

    Eisbach und Monopteros, Englischer Garten

The Eisbach wave is the one Munich subject that moves, and it runs around the clock. The Monopteros two hundred metres on gives the view south across the meadow to the towers of the old town — empty in the morning, a picnic ground from eleven.

    Best time:
    The first hour after sunrise
    Permit:
    Free — public park
  3. 03

    Schloss Nymphenburg

The canal axis in front of the palace is five hundred metres of symmetry and nearly photographs itself. The park behind is laid out in the English manner and far less walked — for a wedding report it is the actual destination, not the facade.

    Best time:
Morning, before the canal has visitors
    Permit:
Park free. Commercial photography: permission from the Bavarian palace administration, chargeable
  4. 04

    Isarkiesbänke bei der Reichenbachbrücke

Turquoise meltwater, white gravel and pines, five minutes from the centre. In high summer it is busy, but the banks are long enough that two hundred metres upstream you are alone.

    Best time:
    Late afternoon in summer
    Permit:
    Free — re-naturalised riverbank
  5. 05

    Viktualienmarkt und Asamkirche

The market gives colour and movement; the Asamkirche two hundred metres on gives the opposite — a baroque interior eight metres wide in which three people are already a crowd. Together they make a session that does not look like a postcard.

    Best time:
    Weekday mornings
    Permit:
Market free. Asamkirche: free, but a working church — no tripod, no shooting during a service

Questions

Do you photograph company outings at the Oktoberfest?

Yes. Inside a tent it is loud and cramped, so we agree table numbers, key people and a calmer spot for the group photograph beforehand, often just outside. Whether photography is permitted is up to the tent operator, which is best confirmed along with your reservation.

Our international guests speak little German. Is that an issue?

Not at all. Our photographers work in English and German, and at a corporate event most of the job is observing rather than directing. For group photographs, short instructions are given in whichever language the room needs. The organiser’s briefing can be in English too.

Can you deliver photos during the conference itself?

A first selection comes the same evening as standard. If you need images at midday for social media or a press release, tell us beforehand; we then edit a small set during a break and send it straight over.
