Why proposal session in Heidelberg
Couples who look for a Heidelberg proposal photographer usually arrive with a picture in mind: the castle above the Neckar, the old bridge, evening light on red stone. The difficulty is that thousands of other visitors share that picture every day. A proposal photographed without being noticed needs distance, a clear line of sight and a moment when nobody walks through the frame. The Philosophenweg has viewpoints with walls and benches where the photographer can stand thirty to fifty metres away with a long lens and blend in with everyone admiring the view. The old bridge only works early in the morning, before the first groups arrive, and gives a very different, quieter frame.
On the Philosophenweg the last hour before sunset is right, because the light then falls squarely on the castle. On the bridge only the time before eight counts. In late October the slope behind the castle colours and evenings are less crowded than in early summer. Allow two or three weeks so the spot and the signal can be settled calmly, especially if you are travelling from abroad.
How the session runs
Beforehand we agree the exact viewpoint, the time and your signal by phone or email, and you receive a photograph of where to stop. The photographer arrives fifteen minutes early and waits at a distance. You walk up the Schlangenweg like any other visitor, which raises no suspicion because nearly everyone takes that path. After the question the photographer comes over and we spend thirty minutes on portraits with the castle view. A first set arrives the same evening, and the full gallery holds 35 edited photographs.
