The Deutschherrnufer is at its best in the hour before sunset, with blue hour following. In June that means meeting at about half past eight in the evening; in December, around half past three in the afternoon, which puts a winter proposal comfortably before dinner. The Eiserner Steg works before nine in the morning, and the Main Tower on a weekday. Book two to three weeks ahead so there is time to agree the place and the signal.
What does the session in Frankfurt look like?
Beforehand we talk through the place, the time and the signal by phone, and you receive a photograph of the exact spot where you should stop. On the day we arrive twenty minutes early, keep our distance on the bank or the bridge and look like anyone else photographing the skyline. When the signal comes, we photograph the proposal from afar. Afterwards we walk over, congratulate you both and take 30 minutes of portraits along the Main. A first set of images reaches you the same evening, in time to call your families, and the full set is 35 edited photographs.

FAQ — Proposal session in Frankfurt
Can I propose on the Main Tower viewing platform?
Yes, with preparation. You both pay admission, tripods are not allowed and commercial photography requires prior arrangement, which we take care of. There is little room to keep a distance up there, so the camera is more noticeable than on the riverbank. We also agree a fallback spot by the Main in case the platform closes for weather or is too busy.
How do I get my partner to the riverbank without giving it away?
The easiest way is a dinner reservation in Sachsenhausen that you walk to along the river. Heading east from the Eiserner Steg is an ordinary evening stroll, and stopping to look at the skyline feels entirely natural. We send you a map beforehand with the point where you should pause.
We are only in Frankfurt for a couple of days. Is that enough notice?
Often, yes, if the date is flexible by an evening. The planning call takes twenty minutes and can happen before you travel. Registering commercial photography at the Main Tower or the Palmengarten may need more notice than a short stay allows, so a last-minute proposal is best planned for the riverbank.
