Why civil ceremony in Leipzig
Hiring a civil ceremony photographer in Leipzig usually means covering a deliberately small wedding: close family, a registry office appointment, perhaps lunch. Three hours fits that exactly. The Neues Rathaus, with its tall tower, supplies much of the setting on its own — the portal, the stairs and the facade give a group photograph a frame that does not need finding. Because the old town starts at the door, the couple portraits afterwards are a short walk away rather than a drive. For couples from abroad marrying in Germany there is one more point worth knowing: what may be photographed inside the ceremony room is set by the registry office, not by us, so we ask in writing beforehand rather than negotiating at the door on the morning.
Registry office ceremonies take place mostly on weekdays, and Fridays go first. Secure the appointment with the registry office before anything else, then ask us straight away. The centre is calmer in the morning, which helps the portraits. In spring the 45 minutes of portraits suit the Johannapark nearby; in rain the portal and the covered arcades remain, the latter only with the management’s permission.
How the session runs
We arrive before you to catch the guests coming in, then photograph the ceremony, the rings and the signing as far as the room allows. After the congratulations comes the group photograph of everyone present, ideally on the steps or in front of the portal. The remaining 45 minutes belong to the two of you, on foot to the Johannapark or through the centre while the guests go ahead. After three hours we are done, and 150 edited photographs are in your gallery within a week.
