FAQ — Civil ceremony in Berlin
Can the ceremony be held in English?
German registry offices conduct the ceremony in German, and if either of you does not speak it well enough, an interpreter is usually required. That is arranged with the office, not with us. For the photographs it makes no difference, but it adds a person to the room whose position is worth knowing in advance.
We are marrying in Berlin with only a handful of guests. Is three hours too much?
Small ceremonies are exactly what this package is for. With fewer people the group photograph is quick, which leaves more of the time for portraits of the two of you and for the moments after the signing that often go unrecorded, such as a toast outside or a walk to lunch.
Is it possible to take portraits at the Brandenburg Gate afterwards?
Only if your registry office is close by, such as in Mitte. From outer boroughs the journey takes too much of the three hours. Pariser Platz is also busy throughout the day, so for quieter portraits a nearby park or a street with character usually gives better results.
