Two hours for thirty photographs sounds generous and is tight. A newborn in the first three weeks sets the running order entirely: feeding, changing and settling happen when they are needed, and the photography happens in between. Those pauses are not lost time — they are the reason the session takes place at home rather than in a studio where an hour is booked and the clock is running. The work is done in daylight at the largest window, without flash.

There is almost nothing to prepare. One room in which the bed or the sofa sits by a window is enough; tidying, decorating and moving furniture are unnecessary, because the framing is close enough that the rest of the room is not in it. The only real preparation is having the room a little warmer than usual. Parents and siblings belong in it too — the frames in which somebody is holding the baby are, in practice, the ones that end up on a wall. Thirty edited photographs within a week.

Since the first three weeks cannot be moved, the best time to enquire is before the birth, giving the due date. The exact day is fixed once the baby has arrived, by phone and with an eye to how you are feeling. On the day, it helps to have the baby fed shortly beforehand and to have something plain for yourself that opens easily. There are no poses here in which a newborn has to be propped or positioned: the photographs show the baby as it lies, sleeps and is held.

The fixed price arrives by phone or email before you book and does not change afterwards, including if illness means the date has to be moved, which costs nothing. The gallery is private, and the photographs may be printed, used on birth announcements and shared with family and friends. We publish no photograph of your child without express written consent, not even in closed groups. You do not need to ask for that default; it always applies.
