We are not hiring a car. Can we still do this?
Yes. Baden-Baden, the Titisee, Triberg and Gengenbach can all be reached by train, the Titisee on the line up through the Höllental from Freiburg. We choose both locations within walking distance of your hotel or the station. Only the sunrise above the fog really needs a car, because public transport does not reach the ridges before dawn.
Is a sunrise above the fog realistic on a honeymoon?
If you are here for several days between late September and mid-November, it often is. We keep two or three mornings of your stay open and decide the evening before, once the forecast shows a clear, still night. The session begins before sunrise at around a thousand metres and is over by nine, in time for breakfast.
What should we wear for photographs in the forest?
Muted, natural colours such as deep green, rust, navy or cream sit well against firs and meadows, while neon and large logos pull the eye. A dress works fine with ankle boots. Bring a warm layer you are happy to be photographed in, because a jacket pulled on at the last minute rarely matches.
