Can we be photographed in the Zwinger courtyard?
The courtyard is open to the public and genuinely empty before nine in the morning. A booked session counts as commercial photography, though, which needs chargeable permission from the Dresden state art collections. We can apply for it and invoice the fee separately; without it, we stay on the riverbanks.
Which side of the river should we start on?
In the afternoon or evening, start on the Neustadt bank and look across at the old town while the light is on it. In the morning, start on the Brühl Terrace and look the other way. The order matters more here than in most cities because of which way the skyline faces.
Is Dresden worth it for a couple session in winter?
